App Disclaimer:

 

Scilingo is an app prototype and is part of a research project at CQUniversity. It is designed to support CQUniversity nursing students’ learning of bioscience vocabulary for pathophysiology and pharmacology. This app is not intended for public use outside of its purposes for CQUniversity.

 

This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by Scilingo when you download and use our mobile application (the "App") available on this Store. By using the App, you agree to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy.

 

1.   Privacy Policy

Scilingo values and respects the privacy of the people we deal with. Scilingo is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act) and other applicable privacy laws and regulations.

 

This Privacy Policy (Policy) describes how we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information, and how we maintain the quality and security of your personal information.

 

2.   What is personal information?

“Personal information” means any information or opinion, whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an identified individual or an individual who is reasonably identifiable. In general terms, this includes information or an opinion that personally identifies you either directly (e.g., your name) or indirectly.

 

3.   What personal information do we collect?

3.1. The personal information we collect about you depends on the nature of your dealings with us or what you choose to share with us.

The personal information we collect about you may include:

·       CQUniversity student identification number.

 

3.2. Other information collected by the App may include:

·       time spent on the App and on individual questions,

·       number of times the App is used, including dates accessed,

·       number of questions answered,

·       proportion of correct and incorrect responses entered.

 

3.3. If you choose not to provide a valid CQUniversity student identification number, we may not be able to provide you with our services or otherwise interact with you. The personal information listed above will only be used for research by individuals who have read the research project information form and signed the research participation consent form, which is located on the CQUniversity unit Moodle site. You may still use the App even if you do not provide consent for research participation.

 

3.4. The App may also automatically collect certain information about your device, including your IP address, operating system, and device type. We may also collect information about how you use the App, such as the features you use and the pages you visit.

4.   How do we collect your personal information?

We collect your personal information directly from you when you:

·       log into the App,

·       use the App.

 

 

5.   How do we use your personal information?

We use personal information for many purposes in connection with our functions and activities, including the following purposes:

● research purposes;

● provide you with information or services that you request from us;

● deliver to you a more personalised experience and service offering;

● improve the quality of the services we offer;

● internal administrative purposes;

● comply with legal obligations and regulatory requirements.

 

 

6.   Disclosure of your personal information

6.1. We may disclose your personal information to any of our employees, officers, insurers, professional advisers, agents, suppliers or subcontractors insofar as reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy. Personal information is only supplied to a third party when it is required for the delivery of our services. We will not sell any of your information to third parties.

 

6.2. We may from time to time need to disclose personal information to comply with a legal requirement, such as a law, regulation, court order, subpoena, warrant, in the course of a legal proceeding or in response to a law enforcement agency request.

6.3. We may also use your personal information to protect the copyright, trademarks, legal rights, property or safety of Scilingo or Clickhook Pty Ltd, the application, website and customers or third parties.

6.4. Information that we collect may from time to time be stored, processed in or transferred between parties located in countries outside of Australia. These may include but are not limited to USA, UK and Asia.

6.5. If there is a change of control in our business or a sale or transfer of business assets, we reserve the right to transfer to the extent permissible at law our user databases, together with any personal information and non-personal information contained in those databases. This information may be disclosed to a potential purchaser under an agreement to maintain confidentiality. We would seek to only disclose information in good faith and where required by any of the above circumstances.

6.6. By providing us with personal information, you consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy and the types of disclosure covered by this Policy. Where we disclose your personal information to third parties, we will request that the third party follow this Policy regarding handling your personal information.

 

How do we protect your personal information?

Scilingo will take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we hold about you is kept confidential and secure, including by:

● having a robust physical security of our premises and databases/records;

● taking measures to restrict access to only personnel who need that personal information to effectively provide services to you;

● having technological measures in place (for example, anti-virus software, fire walls).

 

Online activity

Cookies

The Scilingo app uses cookies. A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers the app puts on your device if you allow it. These cookies recognise when your device has visited our App, so we can distinguish you from other users of the service. This affects? your experience and the Scilingo website(s).app

We do not use cookies to identify you, just to improve your experience on our app(s). If you do not wish to use the cookies, you can amend the settings on your internet browser so it will not automatically download cookies. However, if you remove or block cookies on your computer, please be aware that your browsing experience and our App’s functionality may be affected.

 

App analytics

The App uses an analytics service to help us better understand visitor traffic, so we can improve our services. Although this data is mostly anonymous, it is possible that under certain circumstances, we may connect it to you.

 

Retention of personal information

We will not keep your personal information for longer than we need to. In most cases, this means that we will only retain your personal information for the duration of your relationship with us unless we are required to retain your personal information to comply with applicable laws, for example record-keeping obligations.

 

How to access and correct your personal information

Scilingo will endeavour to keep your personal information accurate, complete, and up to date.

If you wish to make a request to access and / or correct the personal information we hold about you, you should make a request by contacting us and we will usually respond within 3 business days. We will deal with such a request by following the procedure outlined below:

·       We will initially communicate with you by email, if you contact us about your concern at scilingo@cqu.edu.au ;

·       We may contact you by phone if you indicate via email that it is acceptable, regarding your Scilingo app use;

·       Note that responses are only given to CQUniversity staff, students and research stakeholders, as this App is part of a research project.

 

Links to third party sites

 

Scilingo app will not contain links to apps or websites operated by third parties.

 

Changes to Our Privacy Policy or App

 

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on the App. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of the revised Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.

 

Should any updates be made to the App while it is in use by you, we will expressly seek your consent if they impact your privacy.

 

Inquiries and complaints

For complaints about how Scilingo handles, processes or manages your personal information, please contact scilingo@cqu.edu.au. Note we may require proof of your identity, including identity as a CQUniversity student or staff member, and full details of your request before we can process your complaint.

Please allow up to 5 business days for Scilingo to respond to your complaint. It will not always be possible to resolve a complaint to everyone’s satisfaction. If you are not satisfied with Scilingo’s response to a complaint, you have the right to contact the Office of Australian Information Commissioner (at www.oaic.gov.au/) to lodge a complaint.
